Possible Band Choices

Below are some possible bands that our group decided would be good to make a music video for:
* Example - 'Fast Cars'
* Lady Antebellum - 'Need You Now'
* 30 Seconds To Mars - 'Beautiful Lie'
* Pink - 'Runaway'
* Katy Perry - 'Teenage Dream'
* Beyonce - 'Halo'
* The Script - 'For The First Time'
* Christina Aguilera - 'Oh Mother'
* Florence and the Machine - 'Dog Days Are Over'

Our group all thought that these bands all could have a potential to make a good music video. However, when discussing some of the music choices further our group realised that some would be better than others. For example Beyonce's song 'Halo' was a very slow paced song that already has a well known video, by an international well known artist. Therefore, if we made our own video to this song it would be hard to try, to not copy or remake Beyonce's video. Also the video by Florence and the Machine is a very good and unusual video and I dont not think we would be able to live up to the fans expectations.
Our group also thought of doing Example - Fast Cars. As this song is not very well known this could be an advantage for our group. The fact that the song has both a female and male singers this could allows us to show both a male and female perspective in our music video.
Finally, we eventually decided to do Katy Perry's - Tennage Dream. This song is a pop genre and as soon as our group started to discuss potential ideas we all felt that this song has given us alot of inspiration for our music video.

Primary Source Brighton Location

Below is our primary mood board, this was created by one of the people in my group Dominique. As Dominique does photography AS she travelled to Brighton and was able to take her own photos. I would of been able to take my own photos however as we do not live near Brighton it was hard for me to take my own photos.

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream

Here are the lyrics for Teenage Dream....

"Teenage Dream"

You think I'm pretty
Without any makeup on
You think I'm funny
When I tell the punchline wrong
I know you get me
So I let my walls come down, down

Before you met me
I was a wreck but things
Were kinda heavy
You brought me to life
Now every February
You'll be my Valentine, Valentine

Let's go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance, until we die
You and I, will be young forever

[Chorus]
You make me feel
Like I'm livin' a
Teenage dream
The way you turn me on
I can't sleep
Let's run away and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back

My heart stops
When you look at me
Just one touch
Now baby I believe
This is real
So take a chance and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back

We drove to Cali
And got drunk on the beach
Got a motel and
Built a fort out of sheets
I finally found you
My missing puzzle piece
I'm complete

Let's go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance, until we die
You and I, will be young forever

[Chorus]
You make me feel
Like I'm livin' a
Teenage dream
The way you turn me on
I can't sleep
Let's run away and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back

My heart stops
When you look at me
Just one touch
Now baby I believe
This is real
So take a chance and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back

I'mma get your heart racing
In my skin tights jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Let you put your hands on me
In my skin tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight

[Chorus]
Yoooouuu
You make me feel
Like I'm livin' a
Teenage dream
The way you turn me on
I can't sleep
Let's run away and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back
No

My heart stops
When you look at me
Just one touch
Now baby I believe
This is real
So take a chance and
Don't ever look back,
Don't ever look back

I'mma get your heart racing
In my skin tights jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Let you put your hands on me
In my skin tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
(Tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight)

Final Music Song Choice

Today, we finally decided that we were going to do Katy Perry's - Teenage Dream as our song for the music video.

Not only do I like this song but, the I like that tempo of the song changes in the verses and chorus therefore allowing us to change the pace of the music video. The whole group is happy with the song choice and have already got lot's of inspiration for our own music video.

Discussion For Our Music Video

Today in lesson we began discussing what genre/song we wanted to do for our music video. It was hard to pick a genre that we all agreed on as individually we all had our own tastes and ideas that we thought would make a good music video.
Some suggestions of genres/songs were:

-Lady Antebellum - Need You Now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OfsZyYPLoI&ob=av2e

- Example - Kickstarts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9yGcKlYAiw

- Beyonce - Halo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcMmRL6_r24&ob=av2e

However, we were not able to decided exactly what song we wanted to do, but we did eventually decided that a pop song would be the best genre for us to make our music video from.

Alicia Keys - Unthinkable

I love this song and I think that the narrative video is quite simple and something that we could re-create as it is not a high budget video as you can see from the camera shots and quality of some parts of the video.
I like how the video goes through four or five different decades so it starts in the 60s then goes through 70s, 80s, 90s, up til now. This makes the video a bit more interesting as you see the fashion, hair styles and technology change. - For example I like the shot where they are in the car and one of the guys passes a cassette tape which then changes into a CD. (3:07)

Although, the video is telling a story the camera shots go between the developing storyline and the shots of Alicia Keys singing/miming the lyrics. This seems as though she is telling us her story. Finally I liked how the storyline ends on a cliffhanger as we do not know where the couple get together in the end.
